Background
For this project, our group was tasked with project of designing a concept Formula One race car helmet or any other helmet using Autodesk® Fusion 360. The helmet must support the highest degree of safety and comfort to the user. The design aesthetic must convey speed and the style and culture of Formula One racing. the purpose of this task is to familiarize ourselves with 3D modeling software as well as produce prototypes of helmets to go along with our electric Go-kart safety guidelines.
Reflection
For the most part this project went decently but it had its ups and downs. My group wasn't exactly the most studious and we did not have any prior knowledge of how to use 3D software unlike other groups, but we got the job done. After a lot of struggling we were able to complete a passable helmet design but I can't say that the process wasn't very frustrating and difficult. We all had a job throughout the process of the project and we all completed it well which was helping each other where we struggled. We all had some strengths using this software, but we all had weaknesses, which is where we assisted each other. What could have went better would be the understanding of the concept. We had to learn about 3D modeling software in order to complete the project and my group mates were only half clear on what it was. Two things I can improve on for future projects could be being more empathetic and more open to new ideas. I feel that this project could have gone a lot better if we knew exactly why we needed to create a model of a helmet as well as learn the 3D software. Learning modeling is important, but I feel that time could have been spent talking to our mentors about future plans for the project, or more research regarding what would make our Go-kart successful.
